Effects of Global Warming on the planet
Global Warming is the gradual increase in the temperature of the Earth’s atmosphere, commonly attributed to the greenhouse effect caused by increased concentrations of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, accompanied by chlorofluorocarbons and other pollutants. The persistent rise in temperature is causing intense climate change. The effects that Global Warming is causing on Earth are severe. Many effects will materialize in the future if global Warming continues. These include melting the polar ice caps, leading to sea level rise that is drowning coasts and slowly submerging continents. Scientists learn more about the consequences of global warming every year, and we receive new evidence of its devastating effects on people and the planet. As the heat waves, droughts, and floods associated with climate change become more frequent and intense, communities suffer, and the death toll rises. If we couldn’t reduce our emissions, scientists believe that climate change could result in the deaths of more than 250,000 people worldwide every year and push 100 million people into poverty by 2030. Habitats, the emergence of new diseases and pests, and rising temperatures are some of the adverse effects of global warming that are widely discussed.
Due to ongoing human-induced emissions of greenhouse gases, much less of them are being absorbed and lost to space, which means that the reemission will be higher than the escaping gas, causing the underground that underlies the surface to overheat. Greenhouse gases are essential to ensuring and maintaining the planet’s temperatures within a range. The long-term result of the increased reemissions is rising temperatures in the atmosphere. The natural world and people alike are both impacted by this rise. Increased evaporation caused by warmer temperatures hampers the growth of vegetation. This directly affects the animals and the humans who depend on them for energy. Extreme heat waves cause water supplies to dry out, which has an impact on the water bodies and vegetation of the planet.
Glaciers are melting in the planet’s poles due to global Warming. A dangerous endogenic process that may lead to fatalities in both the natural environment and humans. The fatalities occur such that forests are eroded by the moving glaciers leaving the planet bare and in the process, the human settlements in the area destroyed in the event they are on the path of the glaciers. Glaciers melting and disappearing in turn lead to rising of sea levels downstream, leading to the encroachment of habituated areas by floods that tend to destroy crops, human life and the natural vegetation. In the glacier habitats there are animals living there and upon destruction they lack place to call home which is a directly hit to the planet.
The Earth is experiencing climate change as a result of extreme global Warming. Changes in rainfall patterns, air masses, fronts, and currents brought on by climate change cause droughts, floods, animal migration, and even the extinction of some species in the real world. The rain fall pattern changes result in more heavy rains in certain regions, but leaves other areas with no rainfall because the shift in air masses brought in dry winds with no moisture at all. In turn, different parts of the world experience droughts and floods. Animals relocate to new, livable locations, and illnesses proliferate where there is climate change.
Most of the heat from global Warming is absorbed by the ocean. This threatens coastal and island communities by melting ice sheets and raising sea levels. The sea also takes in Most of the heat from global Warming is absorbed by the ocean. This threatens coastal and island communities by melting ice sheets and raising sea levels. Carbon dioxide is also absorbed by the water, keeping it out of the atmosphere. Increased ocean acidity puts marine life in jeopardy and prevents more carbon dioxide from entering the atmosphere. The ocean becomes more acidic as carbon dioxide levels rise, endangering marine life.
Despite the negative effects of global Warming, the globe does gain from it in that Siberia, the Antarctic, and the Arctic are seeing milder winters and increased plant growth as a result of the Warming. This is due to the extreme temperatures. More so reduced fatality or injury rates as a result of the cold environment has gone down in the fact that areas that received very low temperatures are becoming warmer. This is paving a way towards the stopping the next ice age.
Longer growing seasons in some regions may result in more agricultural output. This has happened following climatic change due to global Warming. More so after the actual landmass and the oceans’ state of equilibrium shifted, some more locations have gas and oil deposits that might be made available for human use.
Conclusion
From today’s scenario, we can derive that our Earth is “sick” and we humans need to “heal” it. Global Warming has already caused many problems for humans, and we need to prevent disasters of the future. Our generation needs to take care of the Earth with immediate effect to safeguard future generations or they will suffer the consequences of global Warming. We humans need to work together towards the prevention of global Warming. To reduce global Warming we can contribute by reducing the production and concentration of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. We need to curb usage of gasoline, electricity and other activities including mining and industrialization that cause global Warming.Another way to reduce global Warming is through recycling. Recycling can help reduce open burning of garbage by reusing plastic bags, bottles, papers or glass. We need to stop open burning dry leaves or burning garbage. It contributes to releasing carbon dioxide and toxins. Besides, we should reduce deforestation and start planting more trees. Trees will help improve the temperature on Earth and prevent drastic climatic change.
