Descriptive Study.
A descriptive study is a type of research used to describe, explain, or analyze a natural phenomenon. It involves collecting data about the topic and presenting it in a way that all readers can understand. In this case, the researchers will present their findings through statistical analysis and interviews with people who have experienced the same thing. However,it is a methodology that may be applied to several research methodologies in healthcare, psychology, and education and is not limited to market researchers. Although numerical data may be included, it is not based on figures and typically favors more qualitative techniques. Descriptive study has several purposes where it can be used in different scenarios, and when utilized, it has various pros and cons.
The main objective of a descriptive study is to evaluate a sample at a particular time point without attempting to draw conclusions or assert causal connections. It helps spot connections and trends that might otherwise go squandered. In addition, there are three main justifications for doing descriptive studies: finding potential targets for more study, allocating resource strategies, and imparting unstructured knowledge regarding an ailment or illness(Siedlecki, 2020).The descriptive study in health care is high because it studies how people in the field act, what they say and do, and what they believe. However, It is an essential factor in the healthcare industry as It plays a role in delivering services and the research that goes into those services. It is used in many scenarios to determine how a population feels about something or how they perform in certain situations. For example, a researcher may decide to study the effect of a new drug on heart health, where the data gathered from this study will be used to determine whether or not the drug is effective at improving heart health.
Descriptive study has various advantages in the healthcare sector, which include; a cost-effective method compared to other investigations methodologies, enables understanding of the nature of patients’problems which can help in developing effective treatment plans, provides a way to capture data that helps keep track of progress(Javed,2021). On the other hand, descriptive cons can be; if individualsdo not know how to interpret their research results, they may not be able to tell whether or not their findings are applicable or valid, making it difficult to use them in future studies. Another problem with descriptive studies is that they do not provide any information about causality, making it difficult for researchers to determine what caused what.

Due to their intense educational burden, anxiety about failing exams, and hectic schedules, medical students are under constant stress and may experience bad sleep. In addition to affecting academic achievement, medical students’ sleep quality has a long-term impact on their ability to maintain cognitive, emotional, behavioral, and overall health. Between October and November 2019, undergraduate medical students at Kathmandu Medical College participated in a descriptive cross-sectional study after receiving ethical approval from a tertiary care hospital’s Organizational Review Committee as the most suitable method to use. Pupils in all intakes were selected randomly as the participants, and they were requested to complete self-report surveys using the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index. Version 24 of the Statistical Software for Social Sciences was used for the descriptive statistical analysis. The college authorities provided a record of every medical student present throughout the study period, and the list was assigned a sequential number. Using a unique table, a straightforward random sampling procedure was used to choose study participants where interns and students who missed at least a month’s worth of regular classes were excluded from the research.
