Coronavirus Disease
COVID-19 is a form of the SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes a respiratory illness. Most patients infected with COVID-19 will have mild to moderate symptoms and get better without special care. But some will get very sick and need medical care. When an affected individual sneeze, coughs, speaks, sings, or breathes, tiny droplets of liquid can transfer the virus to others. From large respiratory droplets to minute aerosols, all sizes are represented in this. Infection with COVID-19 can occur through direct contact with an infected person or inhalation of the virus. The virus multiplies and spreads more rapidly in crowded indoor environments (Struyf et al., 2022). Some people infected with COVID-19 have reported no symptoms, while others have reported severe illness. Some people may not experience any symptoms, while others may experience a full range of symptoms anywhere from 2-14 days after infection. Anyone can experience varying degrees of severity.
There are three major ways to prevent the spread of COVID-19: social distancing, maintaining hygiene, and wearing masks. One needs to take necessary precautions to protect yourself and those around you. Some precautions include getting vaccinated and adhering to any vaccine recommendations in your area. If someone appears healthy, but you still feel uneasy with them, maintain a distance of at least 1 meter. Stay away from large groups of people and prolonged physical contact (Lotfi et al., 2020). When avoiding exposure is not an option due to lack of space or adequate ventilation, one should use a mask that fits adequately. Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer or soap and water often to keep germs at bay. Isolate yourself for as long as necessary if you become ill with COVID-19 or test positive for it and wash your hands regularly. There is a global fear of COVID-19 because it is spreading too fast and has no permanent cure. Also, in some parts, the death rates related to the virus are higher than in other areas.
