For an organization to work effectively, leaders must cooperate with the employees to build a solid relationship at the workplace. Developing a conducive environment in an organization is a crucial aspect of consideration. In the case or event where an organization is expecting new employees, presenting a friendly image to the recruits matters the most. It is even more important in cases where it is a matter of volunteer employees. We all agree that no individual would volunteer to work in a company where there is a non-friendly environment. It would be quite disgusting and unpleasant for an organization to present a wrong first impression to recruits. Therefore, as a volunteer serving at ABC Anima Rescue, there are different ways that I would employ to create a positive first image with the new volunteers and community members as a way of building relationships at the workplace.
Leadership is an essential trait in every organization. There is a need to employ a good relationship, especially whenever a company is doing recruits. As an employee at the company, one must understand the elements of leadership that employees will expect from a leader. According to Jones, there are ten different traits that employees expect any leader to possess. Therefore, in this case, the volunteers and community members who are soon to be the new employees in the company will expect innovative, coaching, and caring traits, strategic among many others. To create a good relationship with the volunteers and community members, I would first make sure that there is a clear understanding between each other. This will lead or pave the way for better communication. I would employ a coaching technique and a welcoming behavior for any ideas from the volunteers and community members.
Employees will be productive in areas where they feel welcomed, and their contribution is supported and taken into account. The issue of employee inclusion in management and leadership will serve as a good way to build a relationship with the employees in the organization. In addition, it will facilitate the development and establishment of trust between the volunteers and me. Jones says being a leader means being ready to laugh and encourage meaningful relationships with employees. In this case, I would make sure the workplace environment is fun from the first meeting to create a calm environment for interaction and work (Goffee &Jones, 2015). It helps relieve the pressure of being newbies in an area or an organization, cultivating a sense of belonging and promoting workplace
cohesion.
To lead others, one must be in a position to lead themselves. The leadership self-assessment test presents four different drives a person has as proof of their ability to lead others. These include energy, focus, speed, and challenge. These four drives have an essential role where energy prepares one to deal with daily challenges as a leader. The focus will play an integral role in ensuring that one can prioritize even when things turn out to be different or when surprises happen in their leadership duty. Keeping focus is an important aspect of leadership that I must include to ensure that the volunteers, despite the guaranteed feeling of welcome, should prioritize the job (Showry & Manasa, 2014). Speed will deal with quick and rational decisions that will help the new team of employees feel safer and welcome. Lastly, the drive for the challenge will initiate the feeling of competition for better results, which will cultivate a good work relationship among the new volunteers.
